حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الْعَدَّاسُ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ الصُّنَابِحِيِّ، قَالَ: لَمَّا حَضَرَتْ عُبَادَةَ الْوَفَاةُ، وَأَنَا عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ أَبْكِي، قَالَ: مَا يُبْكِيكَ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: مَا لِي لَا أَبْكِي عَنْ نَفْعِكَ إِيَّايَ وَمَنْفَعَتِي مِنْكَ ؟ قَالَ: وَاللهِ مَا كَتَمْتُكَ كَلِمَةً سَمِعْتُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً، وَأَنَا مُحَدِّثُكَهَا ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ: مَنْ قَالَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، أَطَاعَ بِهَا قَلْبُهُ ، وَذَلَّ بِهَا لِسَانُهُ حَرَّمَهُ اللهُ عَلَى النَّارِ
