القَافلة: في الحقيقة هي العِير الراجعةُ من المقصد، والعامّة تطلق هذا الاسمَ على العير في أوَّل الخروج يقولون: "خرجت قوافل الحجاج".اسم فاعل مؤنث بالتاء. وهو عند أهل اللغة: الرفقة الراجعة من السفر.The definitions are quoted in shortened form from dictionaries of technical terms; the full entries and those of other dictionaries are in the Mîzân Lexicon.
