العطية. (ج) جوائز، وفي الحديث الشريف: "الضيافة ثلاثة أيام، وجائزته يوم وليلة، وما زاد فهو صدقة". أي: يعطي ما يجوز به مسافة يوم ليلة، وهو قول الأزهري. وعن مالك أنه يكرمه، ويتحفه، ويحفظه يوما وليلة.Source: القاموس الفقهي — سعدي أبو حبيب
